Thick cream, great for dry skin

I had not used a night cream before purchasing this one. I am in my early 40's and my skin is not usually very dry except in the winter. During that time of year, I use it at night. It is a thick cream and leaves a slightly oily sheen. When my skin is extremely dry, it doesn't absorb very well, but I use it anyway because my skin feels much more soft and moisturized in the morning. When I apply it to my eyes, it has an oily residue that is still not absorbed the next morning. I sometimes use it on the backs of my hands as well when they are dry and it makes them feel nice and smooth. I feel this cream is a bit too moisturizing for year-round use for me at this stage at my life, perhaps I would benefit from it more as I age and my skin is more prone to dryness.
