Description
Indigo powder is obtained from the ground leaves of the indigo plant and has a very strong smell that is reminiscent of fresh peas. Once a paste is formed, the consistency has a dark green shade that slowly transforms into a blue colour. The more time the paste is given to oxidize, the darker it becomes - it may appear navy blue to black.
Indigo gives the hair increased volume, shine and texture when used as a hair dye. It is ideal for covering grey hair, improves hair manageability, and supplies hydration and protection. Indigo is often used to dye fabrics and can be used as a colour additive for soaps or other skincare products.
Application: When indigo is mixed with henna, the paste has a medium to dark brown shade. A rich black colour is obtained when using indigo to dye hair that has been coloured using henna. When used as a dye on its own, the colour result is dark blue. Read the accompanying instructions carefully before applying the product to your hair. Avoid contact with your eyes and mouth and do not use on damaged skin. Always perform a strand and allergy test before using the product.
Note:
- DO NOT bleach the hair after applying indigo powder! This will result in a green colour outcome!
- Indigo requires two full days to completely oxidize for the final result to be apparent on the hair. Therefore it is not advised to use any chemical shampoos during this time as it may have an effect on the final colour outcome.

Inconsistent quality
Rated with 3 out of 5 stars.
This brand of indigo powder can be excellent and give you a gorgeous black shiny colour... or it can give you a very patchy colouring, leaving some hair uncoloured, even though you have short hair and thus enough mixture to cover everything. I have bought this brand of indigo powder from EV or from a local shop and it is always a lottery of what I am going to get. I wish Biopark employed more stringent quality control, because it sucks when you have to buy a second package of indigo to colour your hair black when you should have achieved this result the first time around.
