Phitofilos Pure Dyer's Madder Powder, 50 g

Dyer's madder or dyer's root, also known as manjistha, is one of the most important colouring plants, which has been known since ancient times and was used as a plant-based substitute for purple. The colouring component of the plant is the root, which contains natural anthraquinone dyes such as alizarin, rubidium, purpurin, etc.

In modern cosmetics, madder dye powder is mainly used for colouring the hair. It has a violet-blue to reddish colour, which comes from the purpurin contained in the root. It therefore has the characteristic of accentuating cool red tones. Dyer's madder is not suitable for grey-hair coverage and should be mixed with other plant-based dyes to achieve grey-hair coverage. Unlike henna, madder root does not boost radiance which is why it is better suited for mixing with other plant-based colouring powders:

• mix with henna to intensify the shade that leans towards a cherry tone with fewer copper nuances
• mix with chamomile or rhubarb to achieve a peach nuance.

Application:

• Stir the required amount of powder with hot water to obtain a creamy paste.
• Let the mixture rest for about 30 minutes.
• In the meantime, wash and dry the hair.
• Then apply the paste generously from the roots to the ends of the hair, cover with cling film and leave it on for 30-120 minutes.
• Rinse thoroughly with water and dry as usual.
